From floating sweetness to brutal force, from delicate flutes to a brutal trombone: an organ has an infinite number of different tone colours and nuances. Thus, its countless orchestral timbres make the Elbphilharmonie organ nothing short of predestined for playing transcriptions.

Throughout music history, musicians have always wanted to play works with a different combination of instruments from the original scoring. In this context, an organ is like an entire orchestra: it »paints« moods and evokes emotions. It is therefore an ideal medium for music full of shimmering colour like the works of Tchaikovsky, Wagner or Liszt. But Lázló Fassang also practises another art with a rich tradition among organists: the art of improvisation. He is a true master of impromptu playing. It will be interesting to see what ideas he comes up with today.
