Pianist und Songwriter

22-year-old Giorgi Gigashvili coms from Georgia and is one of the great talents among today’s young pianists. For his Hamburg recital, the award-winning musician has chosen works by Scarlatti, Schumann und Messiaen. Gigashvili grew up in the Georgian capital of Tiflis and learned to play the piano as a boy, without any thought of ever becoming a professional pianist. On the contrary, singing and arranging Georgian folk songs and pop songs was his first passion.

Culinary offerings before the concert

Enjoy the concert with the young talents even more – after savouring some refreshments beforehand. Head to the Brahms Foyer from 15:00 to 15:45 for coffee, tea and cake. Please note that the way from the Recital Hall to the Brahms Foyer is not barrier-free and that the number of seats is limited.

Gigashvili continued his piano training at the Central School of Music and later at the State Conservatoire in Tiflis. In the meantime, the young artist has won a whole number of international prizes, including third prize at the Ferruccio Busoni International Piano Competition in Bozen and first prize at the Kissingen Klavierolymp in 2021. During the coronavirus pandemic, Giorgi composed electronic music and songs that enjoyed great popularity in Georgia, but he is now appearing in public again.
