Das Dover Quartet gilt als eines der bemerkenswertesten jungen Streichquartette unserer Tage. Die Musiker, die sich bereits mit 19 Jahren zusammenschlossen, gewannen 2010 den Fischoff Wettbewerb und soeben den Internationalen Wettbewerb im kanadischen Banff. Die Mitglieder des Dover Quartets lernten sich 2008 am Curtis Institute of Music in Philadelphia kennen. Die musikalischen Wurzeln des Quartetts sind in der Tradition der Vermeer und Guarneri Quartette zu finden - der jugendliche Enthusiasmus und die musikalische Virtuosität der Gruppe sucht jedoch seinesgleichen. Kürzlich schrieb »The Strad«, dass das Dover Quartet »sich längst durch seine außergewöhnliche interpretatorische Reife, seine klangliche Vollkommenheit und sein spannendes Zusammenspiel innerhalb der jungen Quartettszene hervorhebt«. Alle Quartett-Mitglieder sind darüber hinaus gefragte Solisten und konzertierten bereits mit renommierten Orchestern wie dem Philadelphia Orchestra, der Kansas City Symphony und dem BBC Concert Orchestra. Das Quartett arbeitete am Curtis Institute intensiv mit renommierten Kammermusikern wie Shmuel Ashkenasi, Arnold Steinhardt, Joseph Silverstein und Peter Wiley zusammen und ist derzeit das Graduate String Quartet-in-Residence an der Rice University’s Shepherd School of Music in Houston (Texas). In dieser Saison wird das Dover Quartet zudem das allererste »Quartet-in-Residence« am Curtis Institute of Music sein. Das Werk »Dover Beach« von Samuel Barber, einem der berühmtesten Schüler des Curtis Institute, gab dem Quartett seinen Namen.

Chamber music concerts and receptions are accommodated in the festive foyer located on the first floor. The Brahms Foyer is also the gastronomic centre of the Laeiszhalle.

The accessible entrance to the Grand Hall and Brahms Foyer is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall. The Brahms Foyer is only accessible to folding wheelchairs or wheelchairs under 72 cm in width.
The accessible entrance to the Recital Hall is located at Dammtorwall 46 (Artists’ Entrance). The Recital Hall is only accessible to folding wheelchairs or wheelchairs under 68 cm in width.
Three parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are located at the entrance on Gorch-Fock-Wall. Six parking spaces for visitors with disabilities are available in front of the Artists’ Entrance on Dragonerstall.
All halls and spaces are accessible for visitors with disabilities. The Grand Hall has space for six wheelchairs, while the Recital Hall has space for four wheelchairs (audience seats can be dismounted to make space for two further wheelchair spaces). The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.

Arrival time
We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
