Fortuna Ehrenfeld Silent Night »We breathe in and out all year long,« says Martin Bechler, mastermind of the cult indie band Fortuna Ehrenfeld, adding: »On this evening, we only breathe out.« For the first time, Bechler is performing his Silent Night program outside of Cologne’s always sold-out Kulturkirche, dropping anchor in Hamburg’s venerable Laeiszhalle concert hall at the end of the year. Solo at the piano—the quietest, but perhaps also the most intense variation of the Fortuna Ehrenfeld universe. With his unique poetry and deeply moving songs, Bechler has become an integral part of the German indie scene. Solo at the piano, the words take on greater weight and deep spaces open up.
