Description
Christian Tetzlaff is one of those great soloists who can discover something new even in the traditional violin repertoire. A close acquaintance and long-term partner of the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen, he now returns to his home city.
The programme with which the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie opens its residency is classical in the best sense of the word: opening with the young Mozart’s Concerto in G major and closing with Beethoven’s heroic Violin Concerto. The Guardian described Christian Tetzlaff’s interpretation of the latter as: »Unforgettable: the greatest performance of the work I have ever heard«.
One of Arnold Schoenberg’s early works functions as a very expressive contrast. »Verklärte Nacht« (Transfigured Night) was way ahead of its time as a piece of chamber programme music; in retrospect, the beguiling work has proven to be an inspired reverberation of Richard Wagner’s musical language.
Continuing a great tradition, Christian Tetzlaff – as a soloist – also conducts the orchestra.
