Der Klang der Oboe erinnert an unberührte mediterrane Landschaften. Diese Vorstellung haben wir von der Arkadien-Mode des Barock geerbt. In der Romantik – mit ihrem Interesse an den Untiefen der Gefühlswelt – verblasste diese Idylle zunehmend: Schubert setzt das schwebende, von Oboe und Klarinette gespielte Hauptthema seiner »Unvollendeten« in ein zerklüftetes Umfeld, das bereits den dramatischen Satzverlauf vorausahnen lässt. Peter Ruzicka seinerseits bezieht sich in seiner »Aulodie« auf den antiken Vorläufer der heutigen Oboe, den so genannten »Aulos«. Der Dirigent und Komponist ist ein oft und gern gesehener Gast in der Laeiszhalle; regelmäßig stellt er hier seine neuesten Werke vor. In diesem Konzert leitete er die Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen und hat mit Albrecht Mayer einen Star der deutschen Klassikszene an seiner Seite. Zudem hat sich der bekennende Wagner-Fan Ruzicka noch einen programmatischen Leckerbissen gegönnt: Richard Wagners Siegfried-Idyll. Der Komponist schenkte das Stück ungetrübter Ruhe seiner frisch angetrauten Frau Cosima als Geburtstagsständchen – nach Jahren turbulenter Frauenbeziehungen ein gelungenes musikalisches Friedenszeichen.

Since 1908, the Laeiszhalle has been a meeting place for Hamburg's musical life. The neo-baroque Laeiszhalle Grand Hall accommodates over 2,000 guests. (Please note: The Laeiszhalle is a separate concert hall located three kilometres away from the Elbphilharmonie.)

Facilities for ladies are located behind the cloakrooms on all floors. Facilities for gentlemen can be found on the landing between the floors, also located behind the cloakrooms.
A fully accessible toilet for persons with mobility disabilities is located behind the cloakroom on the ground floor (Parkett links).

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
