World-class young talent

The Concertgebouworkest Young was founded as the youth orchestra of the world-famous Amsterdam Concertgebouworkest in 2019. Since then, incredibly talented European musicians between the ages of 14 and 17 have had repeated opportunities to play with their own musical heroes. Among them is the star violinist Isabelle Faust, who has chosen her favourite concerto, Beethoven’s Violin Concerto.

At the podium leading the Concertgebouworkest Young is Gustavo Gimeno, who successfully swapped his job as principal percussionist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra for a conducting career in 2013. The programme includes a new work by the Spaniard Francisco Coll and Dvořák’s uniquely melodious Ninth (»From the New World«). The highlight of the concert though is provided by Isabelle Faust, who has already played her heartfelt choice of work on her »Sleeping Beauty« Stradivarius with such conducting greats as Philippe Herreweghe, Bernard Haitink and Claudio Abbado.
