Description
Chilly Gonzales makes no secret of his »highly developed ego«, his vanity and his tendency towards megalomania. And he is already occupied – in a tongue-in-cheek way – with the question of whether he will one day become a mythical figure, a legend that is never forgotten. All attempts to make stylistic classifications of his work are doomed to fail. Gonzales draws from jazz, classical, pop, rap and electro, but his music always carries his own eccentric creative signature.
In his 2015 album »Chambers« Gonzales transferred rap to a four-piece string ensemble. Assisting him in that endeavour was the Hamburg-based Kaiser Quartett, which is not a traditional string quartet but rather a group of four musicians with backgrounds in pop and musical theatre: the perfect team to perform chamber rap with the brilliant entertainer and musical jack-of-all-trades.
