Under its chief conductor Dmitry Liss, the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra is regarded as one of Russia’s best symphony orchestras. Formed in 1936, it is based in Yekaterinburg, around 1,700 km east of Moscow. From there, they now bring monumental Russian sounds to the Elbphilharmonie.
