But that does not stop him and so the finale of the 2nd Hamburg International Music Festival is dedicated the musical son and emblem of the Hanseatic city: Johannes Brahms.

The NDR Choir and eminent soloists, such as Carolin Widmann, James Boyd and the current NDR resident artist Alexander Longuich, dedicate themselves to Brahms’ multifaceted output in a four-hour soirée, during which selected chamber music and choir masterpieces can be heard alternately, in a lead-up to Sunday’s programme of all four of Brahms’ symphonies.
