Description

Virtuosic, romantic and possessing an unerring instinct for form, Brad Mehldau has earned a reputation since the 1990s as one of the most creative piano players in jazz.

Born in 1970, Mehldau grew up in a time when it appeared that all sounds had already been played and all conventions already challenged. That is why he reflects on the essence of jazz. Together with Larry Grenadier (bass) and Jeff Ballard (percussion), he explores the possibilities of group improvisation through the puristic format of the acoustic piano trio.

He now returns, doing what he does best. In an intimate collaboration with his congenial trio partners, he spans lyrical motifs in intense and suspenseful improvisation to sound out anew the limits of contemporary jazz piano.
