Summit works

Tour de force! There is no other way to describe the mountain range of sonatas that Ludwig van Beethoven put to paper in 1817/18. For decades, his Sonata Op. 106, nicknamed »Hammerklavier«, had a reputation for being unplayable. Significantly, it was only Franz Liszt who dared to perform the masterpiece in concert. In her recitals, Beatrice Rana regularly gives an accomplished taste of how drawn she is to this kind of piano literature which, for all its virtuosity, also requires an alert intellect. For Hamburg, she has included two works at this absolute apex of the piano repertoire in her programme.
