»The trumpet shall sound!« Is there an instrument that is better suited to get us in the mood for Christmas than the trumpet? Hardly! The instrument’s carolling sound and the festive baroque repertoire associated with it are the key ingredients for this most atmospheric of concerts.
And if award-winning British musician Alison Balsom, who is admired by critics and the public in equal measure, is responsible for both the programme and the solos ... then it really must be Christmas!
The musicians that make up the ensemble hand-picked by Balsom all play in London’s top orchestras and are coming together exclusively for this festive Advent programme. What is there left to say except: in dulci jubilo!
