»So was kann man nicht einfach so spielen« raunzte der große Anton Rubinstein den jungen Klavierschüler Alfred Cortot an, als der ihm Beethovens »Appassionata« vorspielte. In der Tat gilt das Werk vielen als die Klaviersonate schlechthin. Was die Leidenschaft angeht, hat Alba Ventura einen gewissen biografischen Vorteil: Die Pianistin wuchs in Barcelona auf und beschäftigt sich seit ihrer Kindheit mit spanischer Klaviermusik. Insofern ist es für sie nur selbstverständlich, Beethovens aufwühlende Sonate mit der feurigen Musik ihres Heimatlandes zu kombinieren – mit Manuel de Falla etwa, der mit seinen Balletten »El Sombrero de tres picos« (»Der Dreispitz«) und »El amor brujo« (»Der Liebeszauber«) eine Art spanischen Nationalton schuf.

We suggest visitors arrive at the Laeiszhalle main entrance not later than 30 minutes before the start of the concert or event. Late seating is not guaranteed and latecomers may not be admitted to the concert hall.
The entrance of the Recital Hall is located on Gorch-Fock-Wall.
