In between the cultures

The Adelphi Quartet was established in 2017. Its members studied with Rainer Schmidt of the Hagen Quartet, and gained further valuable ideas from Eberhard Feltz, the high priest of chamber music, and Valentin Erben of the Alban Berg Quartett. At the Laeiszhalle they present works by Joseph Haydn, Bushra El-Turk and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.

Culinary offerings before the concert

Enjoy the concert with the young talents even more – after savouring some refreshments beforehand. Head to the Brahms Foyer from 15:00 to 15:45 for coffee, tea and cake. Please note that the way from the Recital Hall to the Brahms Foyer is not barrier-free and that the number of seats is limited.

Among the main awards won by the ensemble are first prize at the Heidelberg Spring string quartet festival in 2020, and several prizes at the 2021 international competition »Premio Paolo Borciani« in the Italian city of Reggio Emilia, while they have appeared for example at the Hitzacker Summer Music Festival, the Musiktage Mondsee and at the Théâtre de Namur in Belgium.

In addition to the tradition quartet repertoire, the Adelphians also play contemporary pieces. Their current tour programme includes a work by the British-Lebanese composer Bushra El-Turk, who combines different cultural traditions in her music.
