»If concertante bliss has a name, that name is the Deutsche Kammerphilharmonie Bremen.« This song of praise for the Bremen-based orchestra appeared in German daily Die Welt after their first concert at the newly-opened Elbphilharmonie.  As luck would have it, Hamburg's music lovers have had the chance to enjoy this fine ensemble for a lot longer: the chamber orchestra has been making guest appearances at the Laeiszhalle for many years, and is now a regular guest at the Elbphilharmonie.

In the 2018/19 season the orchestra will be giving three concerts with programmes ranging from large-scale symphonies and pathbreaking solo concertos to a spectacular choral evening, which is traditionally held at the Laeiszhalle. The programme of the choral concert conducted by Frieder Bernius features highlights from Mendelssohn's »Midsummer Night's Dream« as well as his symphonic cantata »Die erste Walpurgisnacht«.
