The NDR Bigband had its origins in a radio ensemble, but since the 1970s has developed into a formation that not only plays an extensive jazz repertoire, but also makes its own individual mark, expanding genre boundaries, appearing together with world stars and bringing them to concert venues in all four corners of North Germany. How does a venue influence the music played there? The NDR Bigband pursues this question in its subscription series of four concerts: two of them take place in the exquisite architecture of the Elbphilharmonie, the other two in rougher surroundings with more of a club flavour – the Fabrik and Kampnagel.
