Four big jazz names at the Elbphilharmonie: saxophonists Immanuel Wilkins and Charles Lloyd return, as does piano legend Brad Mehldau. Harpist Brandee Younger adds an extraordinary sound to the programme

As a »concert hall for everyone«, the Elbphilharmonie not only presents classical stars on stage, but the biggest names in jazz as well. This year’s line-up reads like a who’s who of the US jazz scene: sax player and Grammy winner Immanuel Wilkins presents an instrumental quartet version of his album »Blues Blood«, while saxophone legend Charles Lloyd joins forces with three other stars, among them pianist Jason Moran. They have all wrapped the Hamburg audience around their little finger on several occasions. The same applies to charismatic jazz harpist Brandee Younger – so much so that she is now returning to the Grand Hall with her trio. As the grand finale, Brad Mehldau, who has shaped the jazz piano world in recent decades like no one else, presents his latest project with bassist Christian McBride as part of his »Reflektor« festival.
