Internationale Solisten • Patricia Kopatchinskaja
The list of artists coming to Hamburg for the series »International Soloists« reads like a »Who’s Who« of the classical music world. The first concert of the season highlights the current artist-in-residence, Patricia Kopatchinskaja. »She manages to hypnotize the audience anew every time,« writes the Royal Philharmonic Society. Her colleague, violinist Julia Fischer, appears in the dual function of soloist and director of the legendary Academy of St Martin in the Fields. Two cellists take centre stage: first legendary cellist Mischa Maisky performs a recital together with icon Martha Argerich at the piano, while superstar cellist Sol Gabetta plays baroque cello concertos. Pianist Jan Lisiecki returns to Hamburg to play two Mozart concertos, whereas Simone Kermes´ instrument is her voice. This expressive singer admits to having left her »wild phase« behind her, but has retained her strong penchant for individualism. Finally, Albrecht Mayer reveals himself to be a treasure hunter: the solo-oboist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra celebrates forgotten oboe concertos in his program »Lost and Found.« In cooperation with ProArte
