With Beethoven and Schubert behind them, the early music icon Jordi Savall and his orchestra Le Concert des Nations are now working their way through music history to Felix Mendelssohn. Under the direction of Semyon Bychkov, the Czech Philharmonic also sets its sights on one particular composer, devoting its programme to national hero Antonín Dvořák. Daniele Gatti presents some interesting interrelationships between classical and modern with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra. The revered conductor Klaus Mäkelä returns to Hamburg with his Oslo Philharmonic, while the final highlight is Benjamin Britten’s »War Requiem«, the haunting musical anti-war manifesto brought to the stage by the eminent conductor Teodor Currentzis.
