»I hope you folks have your note apps open and are jotting down these vibrations that are coming from the stage!« – ten minutes after the start of the listening session, this is how the presenter and musician Sammus described her intense exchange with jazz trumpeter Theo Croker.
The two artists joined up for nearly 90 mins to take a trip through the musical universe of Afrofuturism. They brought along more than 20 records, but in the end they only played four of them – the discussions of the music samples were simply too intense. The subjects they touched on ranged from personal biographic anecdotes to the meaning of spirituality in Afrofuturism and cosmic, transcendental debates about life itself.
