Stefano Bollani

Italian vivacity with charm and humour: jazz pianist Stefano Bollani presents his programme »Napoli Trip«.

Stefano Bollani was born in Milan in 1972 and grew up in Florence. He is one of today's most inventive and versatile pianists, with a list of collaborations ranging from big jazz names such as Chick Corea and his longstanding sponsor, trumpeter Enrico Rava, to world music artists like Richard Galliano and avant-garde figures such as Michel Portal. Bollani plays modern jazz just as well as he does George Gershwin and Maurice Ravel; he also performs 20th century composers as diverse as Stravinsky and Frank Zappa. The combination of musicality and an anarchic sense of humour is certainly something Bollani shares with Zappa.

As part of Elbphilharmonie Summer 2018, the pianist, singer, presenter and writer and his four-part band presented »Napoli Trip«, a Neapolitan fresco with classic tunes from several periods – among them the popular hit »O sole mio«.

The Concert took place on 29 august 2018.
