Marc Ribot’s Ceramic Dog

Kicking off his »Reflektor« Festival, guitar legend Marc Ribot presents his rock trio Ceramic Dog in the Recital Hall.

Between jazz, rock, noise and protest songs, Marc Ribot has become a guitar legend. At the Elbphilharmonie, the American is now arranging a three-day »Reflektor« Festival in which he also presents some of his different band projects. At the start of this superb jazz weekend, he performed in two very different settings: once, very intimately in a solo concert, with battered acoustic guitar. And, after the interval, then inspired by punk, loud and brutal with the power trio Ceramic Dog.

Please note: For licensing reasons, only the performance by Ceramic Dog is available as video on demand after the live stream.

His successful trio Ceramic Dog makes the hall buzz with the full force of its sound. »Subtlety is not my strong point«, says Marc Ribot about the set-up with Shahzad Ismaily on bass and Ches Smith on drums. Which is not completely true of course. Ceramic Dog are, in essence, a rock band, seasoned with pop, psychedelia and disco to noise, funk and jazz.
