Description

»All the world’s beauty is condensed in Beethoven’s music« – with these words, Andris Nelsons supplies the perfect reason for immersing ourselves especially deeply in the great composer’s musical universe in the Beethoven Anniversary Year of 2020. Of course, the grand master of classicism is always present in today’s concert programmes, but the 250th anniversary of his birth offers an opportunity to look at his oeuvre with new intensity – especially at the Beethoven symphonies, which form an integral part of the DNA of the Vienna Philharmonic as they do with hardly any other orchestra. After all, at the Vienna Philharmonic’s inaugural concert in 1842, the programme consisted largely of Beethoven compositions.
