Description

Blue Note stands unchallenged as the world’s most important and influential jazz label. That is true both with regard to the music and its cover artwork. It is now 80 years since the German immigrants Alfred Lion and Francis Wolff established the legendary label in New York – reason enough for Siggi Loch, founder of the jazz label ACT, to curate a band for the anniversary, taking as his cue the motto of the two jazz enthusiasts: »It must schwing«. Under this title, »The Jazz Animals« – a supergroup of the genre – will present classics from Blue Note’s golden age, including works by Sidney Bechet, Bud Powell, John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Art Blakey, Thelonious Monk, Cannonball Adderley, Miles Davis, Lee Morgan, Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.
