Description

With the Social Symphony, the TONALi Festival 2025 ends with an impressive climax. The Elbphilharmonie will be transformed into a living soundscape of Hamburg: musicians, dancers and singers will not only perform on stage, but throughout the entire space – in the stands, between the spectators and in the middle of the audience. Music, movement and personal stories merge into a multi-layered performance that makes the diversity of the city tangible.

The Social Symphony is conceived and realized by the Berlin ensemble DieOrdnungDerDinge, which was awarded the TONALi Award »Mut zur Utopie« in 2024. The focus is on voices from Hamburg: people talk about their everyday lives, their neighborhoods and their lives in the city. The result is a multi-faceted portrait – direct, multi-layered and genuine.

Participants include the Knabenchor Hamburg, a hundred young people, musicians from the TONALi Academy – and the audience also becomes part of the performance. Senator Karen Pein (Ministry for Urban Development and Housing) will open the evening with a laudatory speech to mark TONALi’s 15th anniversary.

During the concert, the TONALi Award 2025 will be presented – this year to Franziska Ritter and Christian Siegmund from 1:1 Concerts, whose work stands for direct musical encounters and social impact.
