Description

Hector Berlioz’s »Symphonie fantastique« is a cult-like reverence for art and the emotional worlds of the artist. The unspeakable, complex emotions that can truly be expressed in their full depth only through music are explored in this work with intense breadth and depth in every direction.

The Symphony Orchestra of the University of Hamburg will perform this unique masterpiece of music history in the second part of the concert. In the first part, the Chamber Choir of the University of Hamburg will devote itself entirely to longing, affection, trust, and vulnerability – in short, to powerful emotions in their most artistically elevated forms – through fantastic works by Johannes Brahms, Gustav Mahler, Jaakko Mäntyjärvi, and Caroline Shaw.
