Bringing more diversity into the classical world – this is the objective of the Chineke! Orchestra from London, founded in 2015. It predominantly comprises Black and ethnically diverse members. Its name comes from the Nigerian Igbo language and essentially means »God, the creator of the world and the good«. In 2022, it made its celebrated debut at the Elbphilharmonie. It now returns to Hamburg under the leadership of Kevin John Edusei, who has been closely connected with the orchestra for many years.

Please note: Kevin Johne Edusei has regrettably been forced to cancel her/his appearance in this concert. Yudania Gomez has kindly agreed to step in.
