Description

The world was going crazy, and art gave form to the madness: 100 years ago, artists in different European cities took inspiration from the industrial revolution and the social conflicts of the time, and Dada was born: an art form that questioned everything, and where all hitherto valid structures simply fell apart. Dada is also art as entertainment, but at the same time the laughter often gets stuck in the observer’s throat. The world of today still – or once again – seems full of chaos, with destructive forces wherever we look. And Dada is not dead yet, as the wind quartet Potsa Lotsa ably demonstrates tonight at the Elbphilharmonie with one of the movement’s most famous works, if not THE most important work of all: Kurt Schwitter’s »ursonate«. The programme is rounded off with compositions by American avant-garde jazzman Eric Dolphy and the Julie Sassoon Quartet, which will be making a guest appearance with its latest album »Fourtune«.
