Description

For Irish singer-songwriter Lisa Hannigan, it was a lucky coincidence that multi-instrumentalist and producer Aaron Dessner came into her life. An attack of writer’s block had brought work on her third album to a halt when she received an email out of the blue from Dessner, offering his help with songwriting and production. The result was a fruitful creative collaboration that yielded Hannigan’s acclaimed album »At Swim« in the summer of 2016.

Lisa Hannigan, now 36 years old, has her roots in traditional Irish folk music. From there she went on to work with prominent countrymen like Damien Rice and Glen Hansard, and finally arrived at her own blend of elegiac and slightly morbid indie folk.

Her music is anchored in her voice, which alternates smoothly between smoky, scratchy low registers and crystalline high notes. Now, these two outstanding musicians can be heard alongside one another on the stage of the Elbphilharmonie Recital Hall.

Please note: Due to renovation work as a consequence of water damage, the Recital Hall Foyer is not accessible on this evening. Please make your way to the Recital Hall via the Grand Hall Foyer (from the Plaza). Use the cloakroom on the northern end of the 11th floor and follow signs to the Recital Hall. Refreshments are on offer from the Grand Hall Foyer bar on the 12th floor. Visitor may use the toilets located on floors 11 and 13.
