Classics in new forms

Sometimes less is more. For example when a chamber ensemble gives great works such as Stravinsky’s Suite from »The Firebird« an entirely new sound, and manages to bring more out of the work than a large line-up might. But sometimes it’s worth trying the opposite approach and employing an oversized line-up. The interplay between various instruments can make solo piano works such as Erik Satie’s »Three Gymnopédies« or Ludwig van Beethoven’s »Appassionata« even more multi-facetted.
