Description

In the eyes or ears of John Cage, music could be anything at all – including the drone of a vacuum cleaner, the sound of splashing water, even total silence. In the »Sonatas and Interludes« he wrote in the 1940s, he became the very first composer to use a ‘prepared’ piano, between whose strings he had wedged nails, screws and erasers to produce new and original sounds. Swiss pianist Cédric Pescia recently released an acclaimed recording of Cage’s cycle, and now presents it live at Kampnagel.
