Beethoven Sonatas IV

Beethoven’s Piano Sonata Pathétique certainly lives up to its name. Igor Levit’s performance of this highly emotional work marks a turning point in his ProArte cycle of eight Sonata concerts spread across two seasons and promises to be a genuinely Beethovenesque experience. Levit is not only a pianist and activist, but undoubtedly one of the very best Beethoven performers of our time. In 2019, he recorded all 32 sonatas on a highly acclaimed album and also talked about his deep relationship with the master composer in a podcast produced by the Bayerischer Rundfunk. It makes perfect sense for him to follow up these recordings by spending Beethoven’s anniversary year fully immersed once again in his sonatas. We are more than happy to accompany Levit on his musical odyssey.
