Description

The time has come: the grand finale of Igor Levit’s Beethoven cycle, which has extended over two concert seasons. The German-Russian virtuoso dedicates this last concert – how could it be otherwise – to Beethoven’s final three sonatas. Beethoven published them in 1820 after a long battle with illness: music as therapy, you could say. Characterised by utmost expressivity and breaking free from classical forms, they pave the way for a music of the future. »Levit stays true to himself in his desire for dynamic extremes […] Beethoven’s world, he shows us, is much richer than the cliché would have you believe,« writes BR Klassik about him, thereby giving a foretaste of Levit’s unique interpretations.
