Description

With their program »Sounds of Spring – Awakening and Passing«, Gustav Frielinghaus and Jaan Ots span a musical arc from the beginning of the 19th century to the middle of the 20th century – from tender awakening to mature passion.

Ludwig van Beethoven’s famous »Spring Sonata« in F major opens the evening with its cheerful, light-filled sound language – a work full of energy, optimism, and poetic freshness. This is followed by Joachim Schweppe’s (1954) Second Violin Sonata, a rarely performed piece that showcases the lyrical side of post-war modernism and gently seeks a dialogue between tradition and renewal. The evening concludes with Johannes Brahms’ Sonata in D minor, whose powerful emotions and deeply felt melodies bring the themes of awakening and passing away to a close with impressive intensity.

The result is an evening that allows the audience to experience spring not only as a season, but as a symbol of life in all its transformations – a play between light and shadow, beginning and completion.
