Tailor-made

Daniel Hope is not only one of the outstanding violinists of our time, but is also committed to his role as artistic director, bridge builder between musical traditions and ambassador of cultural exchange. With Elgar’s Violin Concerto, he brings one of the English composer’s most personal and expressive compositions to his concert at the Elbphilharmonie. It demands the highest level of virtuosity, subtle phrasing and the ability to create powerful emotional tension from the soloist – and is therefore tailor-made for Daniel Hope. He will be accompanied by the Gstaad Festival Orchestra, with which he has close ties as artistic director of the Menuhin Festival Gstaad. In the second half of the concert, the musicians will celebrate Ludwig van Beethoven with a performance of his imposing Fifth Symphony – a foretaste of the Beethoven Year 2027.
