Ding dong for everyone

Gamelan is the name given to the diverse percussion instruments and simultaneously the Indonesian style of music invented on the islands of Java and Bali. The Elbphilharmonie owns a complete orchestra of these south-eastern Asian instruments. The exotic sounds of the gongs and drums continue to captivate western ears to this day – whether when playing the instruments as a participant or when listening as an audience member at the final concert.
