Description

Classical music is serious, whereas jazz is all bright and cheerful? No way! It’s actually the other way round! When multi-talent Francesco Tristano from Luxemburg and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg make a guest appearance at the Elbphilharmonie this season courtesy of Hamburg concert promoter Konzertdirektion Dr. Rudolf Goette, people will soon realise how porous the boundaries have always been between classical, jazz and other styles of music. Whether Bizet clatters the flamenco castanets in his »Carmen« Suite or Gershwin gets the orchestra playing swing in his »Rhapsody in Blue« – time and again, popular culture finds its way onto the concert platform, adding a special appeal to classical compositions. Freedom for classical music!
