Description

What is truth? What is reality? How did we become the people we are? In his new book »Strafe« (Punishment), internationally celebrated German bestselling author Ferdinand von Schirach describes twelve human destinies that show how we tend to jump to conclusions in our verdicts on »good« and »evil«. In a tone of cool restraint, but still full of empathy, he tells of loneliness and alienation, of the striving for happiness and its failure. In the Elbphilharmonie von Schirach shares the stage with pianist Malakoff Kowalski. After his very successful debut in the Recital Hall in June 2018, Kowalski returns to the Elbphilharmonie with extracts from his latest album »My First Piano«. While Ferdinand von Schirach looks behind the facade of human destinies, the »master of delicacy« (Welt am Sonntag) Malakoff Kowalski plays piano music from the border zone between classical and jazz.
