Description

Anything but ordinary – that’s the maxim of the Fauré Quartet. Founded over 20 years ago by four college friends in Karlsruhe, it’s now one of Germany’s best-known piano quartets. Anything but ordinary particularly because the visionary element forms part of their identity: they have won several awards for their cross-genre concerts with a big band or in Berlin’s electro club Berghain, and for their music education work in schools. To give one example, the ensemble won the ECHO prize in the category »Classical Music Without Barriers«. The highlight of their concert at the Elbphilharmonie is Schubert’s sole composition for piano quintet: they are joined for the joyful and blithe »Trout« Quintet by Nabil Shehata, former double-bass soloist of the Berlin Philharmonic and now principal conductor of the Kammeroper München.
