Songs by Franz Schubert and other composers

According to Die Welt, Fatma Said is the »new light from the Orient«. The 30-year-old soprano was born in Cairo, studied at the »Hanns Eisler« University of Music Berlin and honed her skills at La Scala in Milan. She has performed alongside opera stars such as Rolando Villazón and Juan Diego Flórez on the world’s most prestigious stages and given highly acclaimed recitals, most recently at Wigmore Hall in London. Fatma Said loves the force and effect live performances can generate: »What connects us artists and the audience is music. It is a commonality, and I love that when we listen to live music, we create a moment of peace together in a way.« For her SHMF debut, she and the renowned piano accompanist Malcolm Martineau have put together an exquisite programme of songs by Franz Schubert.
