Description

Olivier Latry is one of the most distinguished concert organists in the world. Following his studies at the Academy of Saint-Maur and the Paris Academy, the French musician embarked on a remarkable career. After winning various international organ competitions and positive critique from all around, he landed one of the most sought-after jobs in the organ world: at the age of 25 he was named titular organist of the Notre Dame in Paris.

Next to his church duties, Latry began giving regular concerts throughout the world. He also signed an exclusive record contract with »Deutsche Grammophon« and made countless CDs with works by Bach, Mozart, Vierne and Messiaen. Many of them have become reference recordings. Additionally, Olivier Latry is a virtuosic improviser, continuing the tradition of renowned French organists such as Charles Tournemire and Pierre Cochereau.

Throughout his career, Olivier Latry has been especially interested in performing, promoting and popularising contemporary music. In this concert he performs works by Olivier Messiaen, Gerald Levinson and Jean Louis Florentz on the brand new organ of the Elbphilharmonie.
