Description

Welcome to Blind Date! Here, anything is possible: groovy folk fiddle music, crossover string quartets, virtuosic live piano improvisation combining jazz and classical music. The imagination is boundless, but not when the surprise is revealed in advance! Included in a Blind Date ticket is a free drink - so that you can ask the evening’s artists at the bar what you just heard!

Dutch harpist Remy van Kesteren was guest artist for February’s Blind Date. Born in 1989, van Kesteren won the most important harp competition at the age of 24: the International Harp Competition in Bloomington, USA. While still a student he established the ambitious Dutch Harp Festival in Utrecht. The Dutchman is now regarded as one of the world’s most successful harpists. Van Kesteren’s extraordinary projects, for example, in collaboration with the famous ballet choreographer Hans van Manen, illustrates his eagerness to experiment and his passion to enter into dialogue with other artists. And his performance for the Elbphilharmonie Blind Date further showed: thanks to Remy van Kesteren, the harp, the instrument of angels, has arrived in the 21st century.
