Description

If she wanted to, she could by now be resting on her laurels and celebrating her success by sticking to the well-known repertoire. But that’s not Anne-Sophie Mutter’s style. She’s always looking for an artistic challenge – commissioning new works, fine-tuning special programmes and supporting young musicians, with whom she also regularly shares the stage. All these aspects of her artistic work flow together at this recital in the Elbphilharmonie.

Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki and Anne-Sophie Mutter have shared a friendship lasting many years and his numerous works for violin are evidence of this singularly inspirational musical partnership. The Duo concertante with the unusual instrumentation of violin and double bass is just one example. Roman Patkoló, the talented double bass player and former Anne-Sophie Mutter Foundation scholarship holder, provided the initial impetus in this case.

Bach and Brahms, both a constant presence in her repertoire, frame the enthralling programme, which would not be complete without the contribution of her congenial piano accompanist Lambert Orkis.
