Music connects – not only people, but also places and times, styles and traditions. »World Classical Music« features two tribute concerts: for the recently deceased Indian master percussionist Zakir Hussain and for Umm Kulthum, Fairuz and Asmahan, the queens of Arabic song. In addition, the path leads from the unspoilt landscape of Mongolia, which is represented by a unique singing technique and instruments such as the horse-headed violin, to Crimea and the music of the Tatars historically resident there, who were once expelled by Stalin and again in 2014 when the country was annexed by Russia.
