»To me, home is the music that I am currently playing,« said Jörg Widmann, confirming that he is a true cosmopolite and a dedicated musician. Jörg Widmann is one of the most distinguished clarinet virtuosos as well as a world-famous composer.
Widmann, a native of Munich, has not lost his sincere nature and mischievous sense of humour, which he shares with Schumann, his favourite composer. Jörg Widmann’s art can be heard several times during the course of the season. Kent Nagano has also asked him to compose a new work for the first Elbphilharmonie concert with the Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra on 13 January 2017.
