NDR Jazz (Thursdays)

Description

The jazz landscape is colourful and diverse. In seven concerts in the Rolf Liebermann Studio, the NDR Jazz series presents: wild and rampant grooves »made in Austria« by the band Shake Stew; two fresh impressions of Poland’s contemporary jazz scene in the up-and-coming young pianist Kasia Pietrzko and the celebrated saxophonist Maciej Obara; and from Belgium, the adventurous and virtuosic LABtrio headed by bassist Anneleen Boehme as well as the Flat Earth Society, who celebrate the 100th anniversary of Ernst Lubitsch’s film masterpiece »The Oyster Princess« with humour and madness. And if that wasn’t enough: the world premiere of the duo Trilok Gurtu and Nils Petter Molvar formed specially for this series, various Hamburg premieres and a visit from the US by guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel, the singing pianist Kevin Hays and the spherical quartet of saxophonist Oded Tzur.
