Le Concert Olympique / Kit Armstrong / Jan Caeyers
Bach / Beethoven
Star pianist Kit Armstrong pays homage to Beethoven – with concerts in 27 European cities. The project runs until 2027, a mammoth undertaking with a permanent team of orchestra and conductor
»His work represents humanity in all its facets,« says Kit Armstrong admiringly about the legacy of Ludwig van Beethoven, the 200th anniversary of whose death the music world will be celebrating in 2027. To mark the occasion, he has launched the »Beethoven27« project together with conductor Jan Caeyers and the orchestra Le Concert Olympique. The joint journey lasts four years, tracing the composer’s eventful biography in sound – including his time as a virtuoso and his heroic fight against deafness. Each concert brings together works from one chapter of Beethoven’s life, with the symphony, piano concerto and sonata standing side by side on an equal footing.
