The Cleveland Orchestra / Franz Welser-Möst
Rihm / Schubert – Elbphilharmonie Summer
Arguably the best orchestra in the US opens this series for subscribers – followed by outstanding European orchestras with stars such as Barbara Hannigan, Paavo Järvi and Teodor Currentzis. The festival features enchanting choral ballads by Schumann.
Elbphilharmonie Subscription 5 starts the new season with what may well be America’s best symphony orchestra. The series also sees phenomenal orchestras from Zurich and London coming to Hamburg. Audience favourite Teodor Currentzis sets the Elbphilharmonie ablaze with Ravel’s »Boléro« and Stravinsky’s »Sacre«. And the French conductor Laurence Equilbey and her period ensemble finally present a concert originally scheduled in 2021, with moving choral ballads by Robert Schumann.
