This institution has become an integral part of Hamburg’s musical life: the Balthasar Neumann Choir and Orchestra regularly deliver exciting concert experiences. With great enthusiasm for singing and playing, and always adhering to authentic historical performance practice, the musicians are once again tackling the milestones of the repertoire this season. Alongside founder Thomas Hengelbrock, the French conductor Lionel Sow now also takes to the podium, opening the concert series with Monteverdi’s famous »Vespers for the Blessed Virgin Mary«. In addition to J.S. Bach’s popular »Brandenburg Concertos« and Robert Schumann’s fairy-tale-like choral song cycle, Hengelbrock will conclude the series by conducting Schumann’s gripping »Faust Scenes«.
